Sheffield Gothic is pleased to announce that registration for Reimagining the Gothic 2017: Gothic Spaces is now open!
Reimagining the Gothic is an ongoing project that seeks to explore how the Gothic can be re-read, re-analysed, and re-imagined. We encourage both public interest and new academic avenues from students and scholars who wish to present on the Gothic using interdisciplinary and creative methods. This year we will host and showcase academic papers, creative projects, as well as a fantastic keynote by Professor Dale Townshend, that explore and reimagine the use of Spaces within the Gothic including: how space has developed over the decades (from architecture, urban, and eco spaces); the ways that space is used to reflect and explore key themes of the Gothic; and to what extent spaces are integral to the Gothic.
Gothic Spaces will take place on 12-13th May 2017 at the Humanities Research Institute, Gell Street, Sheffield. The entire conference and showcase will be free, but please note we require attendees to register (links below). The Conference is open to academics of all levels of study, and the Creative Showcase will be open to academics and all members of the public. The Creative Showcase will also include a wine and cake reception.
