Sheffield Gothic is pleased to announce our new 2017 conference and showcase event:
Reimagining the Gothic: Gothic Spaces.
Gothic Spaces will take place on 12-13th May 2017 at the Humanities Research Institute, Gell Street, Sheffield. The conference will also include a public lecture by Professor Dale Townshend.
Reimagining the Gothic is an ongoing project that seeks to explore how the Gothic can be re-read, re-analysed, and re-imagined. We encourage both public interest and new academic avenues from students and scholars who wish to present on the Gothic using interdisciplinary and creative methods. This year we will host and showcase academic papers, creative projects, as well as a fantastic keynote by Professor Dale Townshend, that explore and reimagine the use of Spaces within the Gothic including: how space has developed over the decades (from architecture, urban, and eco spaces); the ways that space is used to reflect and explore key themes of the Gothic; and to what extent spaces are integral to the Gothic.
The conference schedule and registration details will be announced nearer the event. For more details, please email Sheffield Gothic at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reimagining the Gothic 2017: Gothic Spaces is generously sponsored by the AHPGR Forum and the Alumni Foundation at the University of Sheffield.
